The Talent Challenge

Organizations today are faced with significant headwinds in attracting, developing, and retaining their talent.

Udemy - Demand for software developers related to other jobs

LinkedIN - Employees would stay longer if their employer invested in their career development

ATD - Employees not reaching full potential due to inadequate training & development

ICF - ROI on coaching relative to initial investment

My Focus

I focus on the software development industry and offer my clients the highest level of support and engagement to attract, develop, and retain their best talent.

My Approach

Creating a circle of trust for both the organization and the individual to ensure that a mutual fit exists is critically important.  I accomplish this by listening intently, building authentic relationships, and striving to make each stakeholder feel valued thereby leading to long-term success and fulfillment.

My Mission

I am passionate about the human element of business. My goal is to create sustainable results at the organizational and individual level by helping build better workplaces through a variety of tools and strategies, including consulting, assessments, professional development, and coaching.

My Results

I have demonstrated my ability to establish deep connections with team members as well as leaders. My strength is coming alongside individuals to help them envision their potential value within the organization, growth opportunities, and how they can make a difference. I in turn help leaders understand the value that each team member brings to the bottom line. Results are increased employee retention as well as a more empathetic workplace.

About Me

Hello, my name is Ellen Decker. I am a Talent Management Consultant, bringing extensive experience to the table with close to two decades in the financial services industry, a decade in the healthcare industry, and most recently, over a decade in the software development industry. I am dedicated to enhancing organizational, team, and especially individual performance. Assessments and coaching are a core focus of my consulting work. I hold an Undergraduate Degree in Finance and an MBA, both from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Your Business Therapist

I serve in a coaching capacity as someone who can provide a safe and confidential space within the organization where employees can freely share their concerns, stressors, and workplace challenges without fear of retribution. I practice active listening and engagement to identify problematic issues, assist in navigating difficult situations, improve communication and other interpersonal skills, and help develop coping strategies for dealing with troubling situations. I include action and accountability as primary components to foster a healthier, more productive, and more fulfilling work environment.

Software development organizations face significant challenges when trying to attract the best talent. In this highly competitive industry, the best developers are in high demand and often have multiple job offers to choose from, making recruitment a daunting task.

Creating a strategy to develop your best developers will help them provide better solutions for your organization. As they improve their skills, they will produce better solutions in less time.  This in turn will reduce maintenance costs and improve customer satisfaction.

Developing a retention strategy is vital for organizations to keep their top developers. A well-though-out strategy will help create a positive work environment, foster employee satisfaction, and promote loyalty to the company.

The rapidly evolving technology landscape necessitates a well-thought-out strategy and continuous effort to create and sustain a corporate culture that will stand out against your competition.

Development is a key driver to a successful talent management strategy. It is the link between attraction and retention and can have positive ramifications on both ends of the spectrum through “culture branding.” Talented individuals want to broaden their skill set. They want training, coaching, and mentoring; in other words, they want the employer to take a genuine, personal interest in their professional and personal success.

One-on-one coaching plays a crucial role in retaining a company’s best talent. It allows personalized guidance and fosters professional growth and skill enhancement tailored to individual needs. Through this approach, software developers feel valued, empowered, and motivated, which leading to increased job satisfaction and a stronger commitment to the organization’s success, ultimately reducing turnover and retaining top talent.
